The Alamodome
Opened in May 1993, the Alamodome is a sports arena and convention center located in the southeastern fringe of downtown San Antonio. The 64,000-seat stadium hosts professional football, and basketball games and skating events. It’s also the home field of the UTSA Roadrunners.
While this five-level facility holds about 64,000 fans for a typical game, it's expandable to seat up to 72,000 spectators. It can easily convert from a football stadium into a hockey or basketball arena in as little as 12 hours. In this configuration, only two levels are used and can seat 20,662 spectators and expandable up to 39,500 seats.
The Alamodome has two Olympic-level ice rinks used for the National Hockey League, speed skating, and figure skating. It can also be converted into a small auditorium with a more intimate, enclosed setting that can seat up to 11,000 spectators.

The Alamodome is a 64,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in San Antonio, Texas. It is located on the southeastern fringe of downtown San Antonio. The facility opened on May 15, 1993, having been constructed at a cost of $186 million.
The multi-purpose facility was intended to increase the city's convention traffic and attract a professional football franchise. It also placated the San Antonio Spurs' demands for a larger arena. The Spurs played in the Alamodome for a decade, then became disenchanted with the facility and convinced Bexar County to construct a new arena for them, now called the AT&T Center. The Alamodome's regular tenants are currently the UTSA Roadrunners. Recent tenants include the San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football and the San Antonio Talons of the Arena Football League.
